About Me

Born in Chicago. Graduated from University of Michigan in April, 2008. B.A. in Social Science (with emphasis on International Development, Political Economy, and Social Justice), and a minor in Environmental Science. Studied abroad for 6 months in Dakar, Senegal. Graduated with ¨highest honors¨.

Interned at a refugee resettlement center in Chicago for 3 months in 2006 (heartland Human Care Services).
Taught English and AIDS education In Dakar, Senegal for a month at a community-run school (Ecole de la Rue) in 2007.
Worked as a grassroots researcher for a low wage labor advocacy organization in Michigan (The Washtenaw County Workers Center) in 2007.
Taught English and led discussions on American culture, and translated legal documents for a refugee and political asylee center in Detroit (Detroit freedom House) in 2005 and 2007.
Tutored kids of all grades, taught ESL, and facilitated creative writing workshops with 826 Michigan, a non-profit organization, for 3 years in Ann Arbor, MI.

Currently working for an NGO in Quito, Ecuador, on a fellowship from University of Michigan´s Center for International and Comparative Studies.
