Hello TIG Members
I am the Online Community Volunteer Management Assistant at the TakingITGlobal Toronto Office. I am uber excited about my role with TakingITGlobal and look forward in engaging with you all!
My background is one grounded in the areas of Political Science and Women Studies. Specific areas of research include Middle Eastern Politics and the uprise of Transnational Feminist Movements within the Middle East.
Toronto has been my home for the past 20 years, before which i migrated here from United Arab of Emirates.
Education is of utmost value for me as it is a vehicle for progression and evolution from generation to generation. The education of women within the Middle East and South Asia, as scarce as it remains to be, is one that I value and continue to advocate for.
Travelling is an escape for me with my most recent trip being to Istanbul, Turkey for an internship via the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Canada. I also served for a non-governmental organization (KAGIDER); a women centric platform aimed at the enhancement and integration of women within the economic, social and political sphere of that of Turkey.
I love to meet and engage with new people as such moments of dialogue provide knowledge and new perspectives.
My ideal day would include hot beaches of the U.A.E and the latest Noam Chomsky book; perfectly served with a brew of Turkish tea.
Looking forward to the TIG experience.
