About Me |
I am a global nomad without a concrete home like probably many of you..
From an early age, I was immersed in different cultures from my original one - Japan - and indeed, grew up in Algiers, Tokyo, and Torino (Italy). When I was in Tokyo, I used to daydream about the positive aspects of the Algerian way of living with basic fundamentals.. especially when you compare it with caotic, "unchilled" Tokyo life.. During the 13+ years I spent in Italy, I had the opportunity to travel around the world and constantly suffered from "cultural shock" on my return from these trips, thinking about how different one's life can be depending on the location.. so different, sometimes I did think that we lives in different worlds.
My thoughts apart, I am a sociologist and I recently completed my undergraduate studies in LSE in the UK. My Sociology degree had much to do with the mix of sociology, development and the politics of difference such as race. I believe that any work related to "development" has to have a solid understanding of the functions of the society concerned.. Case-specific solutions, local sustainability, grass-root approaches.. all these ideas above, in my view, cannot execute successfully without the appreciation and the deconstruction of the sociological mechanisms at work.
I speak fluently English, Italian, Japanese and Spanish and can also pull some French and Portuguese.. Thus, whoever shares my ideas or want to debate over them I will be pleased to get in contact with.
