About Me |
A freshman at the George Washington University majoring in International Affairs, Alex is founder of Students for Sustainability (www.students4sustainability.org), an organization that works to promote the concept of microfinance by speaking publicly about the benefits of sustainable development at schools, community events, and larger forums internationally. Students for Sustainability raises money to invest in microcredit by selling Guatemalan handicrafts. Alex is founder and director of Youth Microcredit International (www.ymci.org), an organization with chapters in high schools around the country that encourages students to invest in and spread awareness about microcredit. Alex represents Massachusetts on the National Youth Council for the US Public Service Academy. The Academy, currently a bill in the US House of Representatives and Senate, would establish the first tuition-free undergraduate institution dedicated to developing the future leaders of the public sector (www.uspublicserviceacademy.org). Alex is a member of the GW International Affairs Society and is currently an intern for the non-profit Ashoka. Alex travels frequently and has visited 45+ countries, largely in the developing world. Alex is originally from Newton, Massachusetts.
