About Me

Hi, everyone! My name is Aaron Pinto. I recently completed my third year at Western University and, come September 2012, I'll be heading to Europe on exchange for a year.

I am Indian by heritage, born in Bahrain, and raised in Canada. Hence, it's not surprising why I like to embrace culture and diversity in every way possible. I am also passionate about service, and I like learning about community and social development, youth political leadership, as well as ways to bridge the current gap between the Global North and South.

I was recently offered a summer internship at TakingITGlobal (TIG) and I am fortunate enough to work with Sean Keith as a Research Assistant. The position entails contributing to knowledge concerning the offline impacts that have been generated via TIG, as a well-known online social community for youth leaders. Currently, as an aside, I am supporting research for the YouthMovements Year 1 report, by creating a white paper on best practices concerning mentorship and volunteerism, as well as ways of overcoming the 'Digital Divide.'

Bonjour à tous et à toutes! Je m'appelle Aaron Pinto. Je viens de terminer ma troisième année à l'Université Western et, dès septembre, je vais diriger vers l'Europe pour un an grâce à un échange international.

Par héritage, je suis indien, et je suis né à Bahreïn, et ai grandi au Canada. Donc, ce n'est pas étonnant pourquoi je tiens à embrasser la culture et la diversité dans toutes les manières possibles. Je suis également passionné au sujet du service, et j'aime apprendre à propos du développement social et communautaire, du leadership politique chez les jeunes, ainsi que des façons de combler l'écart qui existe entre le Nord et le Sud.

J'ai été récemment donné un stage d'été à TakingITGlobal (TIG) et j'ai de la chance de travailler avec M. Sean Keith comme un adjoint à la recherche. Dans le cadre du poste, je contribue aux connaissances qui concernent l'effet qui est produit hors ligne par l'intermédiaire TIG comme une communauté sociale bien connu en ligne pour les jeunes leaders à travers le monde. En ce moment, en aparté, je mène des recherches pour le rapport à propos de la première année du projet TIG qui s'appelle, YouthMovements, et je vais créer bientôt des livres blancs au sujet des meilleures pratiques concernant le mentorat et le bénévolat, ainsi que les moyens de surmonter la fracture numérique.
