About Me

Basically I am a central banker and work in the State Bank of Pakistan as Assistant Director but presently I am in Japan on a World Bank program and doing Master’s in Public Policy & Taxation in Yokohama National University Japan. It is a Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program whose main objective is to train mid carrier government officials from developing countries in the area of international economics, public policy and taxation. In this program, special emphasis is given to public policy and allied issues.
My job in State Bank of Pakistan is very important to the core objectives of SBP. I am a member of a team who works on key inputs for economic policy formulation through its analytical reviews and research work. Clearly, superior analysis of economic policies would be reflected in sounder macroeconomic management by the central bank and, in turn, the evolving structure of monetary and financial system would be more stable, and resilient against internal and external shocks. In addition to that, I also prepare survey reports of the macroeconomic factors for banks, as many of the risks are at the bank level and these macroeconomic factors influences them. I usually review the economic rationale for bank’s regulation and supervision. In my work and in framing the public policies, special emphasis is given to all potential stakeholders of the bank. Thus my work is expected to contribute significantly towards the main objectives of the State Bank of Pakistan (guides the central government in framing the national policies.).
