About me
I am a Philadelphia resident and currently completing my master’s degree in education at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Intercultural Communication. Throughout the course of my career, I have become very interested in exploring the international side of education. One of my more recent interesting adventures was a trip to Mexico to participate in a workshop. I had an opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and meet some of the most friendliest people. While I was there I studied the school systems of Mexico and helped to develop a strategic plan to assist Mexican children in their transition to American schools.
I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at the University of Maryland. I returned to Philadelphia thereafter, where I taught third and fifth grade for a charter school. During my time as a teacher I decided to further my education by pursing a graduate degree. Since then I have given my time to working with professors and volunteering within the field of international education.
Originally from India, my parents immigrated to the United States in 1972. I was born in the United States, the first in my family. I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia in a very tight knit Indian community. I love to travel, read, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. I have traveled widely throughout the United States and India, as well as several other countries.
Formerly with TakingITGlobal as the TIGed US intern.
