Upon graduation, Alex began to work with United Nations Annual Department of Public Information/Nongovernmental (DPI/NGO) Conference. Soon after, Alex founded and chaired the Young Professionals Subcommittee which allowed college/university students and young professionals to share their initiatives and network with NGO leaders and government delegations at the annual conference. In August 2007, Alex co-founded the International Youth Council (IYC), a nonprofit organization that aims to foster youth engagement and promote sustainable development through organizational partnerships, entrepreneurial projects, and leadership opportunities. Meanwhile, Alex also worked to build cultural and intergenerational partnerships through a variety of roles: Project Manager for NY AIDS Film Festival, Program Coordinator for the Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations and External Communications Coordinator for the United Nations Major Group on Children & Youth. In his hometown of Uniondale, NY, Alex co-founded a youth program, U Strong, in 2008. After eight months of galvanizing support for "U Strong 4 Change" campaign, Alex spoke at a May 2009 press conference with former County Executive Thomas Suozzi to announce the launch of the Nassau County Summer Youth Employment Corp, which created 1,000 summer job opportunities for youth in at-risk communities. The new jobs program received $200,000 from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 and created the joint public & private commission on youth employment.
