 About Me |
I am a professional social worker with Bachelors and Masters in Social Work and working with vision of holistic development of the Marginalized communities.
I am working as NATIONAL FOCAL POINT at Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS. I am also an Action Partner with Oxfam International Youth Partnerships.
Motivated by the poverty and injustice taking place in my environment, struggle of people for existence and miserable conditions to eke out next square meal in the day, I gave high priority in my life to work as a change agent to develop a just society.
I spent most of my time in rural areas and organized 15 youth clubs where 265 youth participated and started sharing experiences on HIV/AIDS epidemic. These youth today working as change agents in the grassroots for enlighten other youth. Counseling and referral services, promotion of condoms and explaining reasons and causes for the intervention of the disease, are some of the activities undertaken by these clubs.
The development zeal prompted me to pursue graduation and university studies in Social work as my academic curriculum. Besides, I also gained need based experience in computer applications such as MS Office, Flash, Photo Shop, Dream Weaver, Multimedia, etc., I am using some of these learning’s for documenting the issues concerned to HIV/AIDS and infected/affected individuals, families and communities.
I am the founding member from India for the GLOBAL YOUNG GREENS FOUNDING CONGRESS held at Nairobi, Kenya in January, 2007. I have participated in ASEM Youth Dialogue-2007 held in Manila, Philippines during November, 2007. The Dialogue organized Asia-Europe Youth Network for sustainable Development. In this, the MILLINIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS subject and sessions are dwelt by me. Currently I am also working as a Projects Manager at a Local NGO called HARD in Hyderabad.
With these above mentioned exposures and experiences I am now more committed and looking forward for good partnerships and networks to facilitate better support to the vulnerable youth from the marginalized communities.
