 About Me |
Ajmal Pashtoonyar is a Political Science student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, in St. Johns, Canada. He is the Youth Ambassador for Mine Action in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (2002-2003), a tri partnership program of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), Canadian Red Cross and Mines Action Canada (MAC). Working with Oxfam Canada in St. Johns, he rallies to facilitate sustainable community action and awareness on a global landmines crisis. Ajmal is also the founder executive of the Afghan Youth Organization (AYO), which aims to work for the well being of Afghans. Ajmal has participated in many events throughout North America, including the Intra Afghan Youth summit, New York 1999, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification at the United Nations, New York 2001, the Newfoundland-Labrador Human Rights Association Human Rights Day, 2001, and Rebuilding the future of Afghan Women Conference, Montreal 2002. Ajmal has also traveled extensively in Bosnia Herzegovina on field trip visiting minefields and meeting Government officials, UN, NATO, local and international NGO?s working in Mine Action. Ajmal is fluent in English, Pashto, Dari and Urdu.
