EST. 12th AUGUST 2008 BACKGROUND INFORMATION African youth Development canter, herein referred to as AYDC, is a non-governmental organization that aims at equipping youth, particularly those living in the midst of poverty, disease and conflict, with entrepreneurship skills and also enhance the ICT literacy rate and educational level of disadvantaged youth. Youth development is one of the greatest legacy a country can give to their youth. This serves as significant socio-economic force by providing livelihoods and contributing to development. It also has a likely attraction for volunteerism. Its training requires youth to attend school, especially those wanting to acquire education professionally. It can give the street child an opportunity to develop self competence and esteem. This will make them spend less time in sedentary pursuits such as violence, crime and other the social vices. At African youth development canter, it is our belief that holistic training is necessary for children to succeed. For example, sports and other capacity building and good educational background will help them get scholarships to higher education, but they will also need to know how to use computers to be successful in higher education. AYDC looks to employ training skills in sports, computer literacy and education to espouse equity in social policies that address livelihood opportunities for socially excluded children and young people. Vision To be a leading youth-led civil society organization in Africa aimed at eradicating extreme poverty by way of promoting youth development, technology, and environmental protection. Mission Statement AYDC is a youth-run organization that train and unite unprivileged youngsters in Guinea and also creating a better future for youth which will lead them to improve significantly their own lives wherever they are. WHAT WE DO AYDC does youth training in computer literacy to help unprivileged youth in rural and urban area, environment protection, cultural exchange, girls’ education and other issues related youth led activities. Founders AYDC was founded by Mr.Aboubacar SYLLA and Mr.Amara CONTE. Formation & Incorporation of Organization AYDC was founded in 2008 and registered on A/ 2009 /2237/MATAP/CAB/DNLPAJ/09 with law .Vu la L /2005/013/AN du 04 juillet 2005 fixant le regime des Associations en Republique de Guinee. Board of Directors There is a Board of Directors that formulates policies for the effective by the secretariat of AYDC. They are 1. Board Chair Mr. Aboubacar SYLLA 2. Short-term (within 3 years) AYDC is building its workforces in four locations now (Dixinn, Dubreka, Tanene and Boffa). Medium-term (within 7 years) AYDC target is to cover with ICT centers in the near future all main cities in urban and rural places in Guinea . Long-term (within 15 years) Expand our projects to other African Countries. OBJECTIVES- § Using knowledge and talent transfer through Youth Exchange Programmes § Recruiting and offering skills training and capacity building in entrepreneurship and leadership for less privileged children § Resource mobilization to support the education and development of socially excluded children § Establishment and management of a comprehensive sport academy § Establishment of a community e-learning centre to offer employable skills in IT to unemployed youth § Providing volunteers for our partner School and Clinic PARTNERS AND STAKEHOLDERS ii.
