 About Me |
I am a graduate of Queen's University with a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education, and a Bachelor of Arts. A focus of my studies at Queen's was HIV/AIDS prevention strategies. I have recently become a volunteer at AIDS Vancouver, a community-based AIDS service organization.
After graduating I made the move to Vancouver like many other people from Ontario. I currently work at a bank as an administrative assistant where I do my best to keep an office running smoothly.
Outside of work I like to take advantage of the natural beauty of the west coast by hiking and camping. I also like to take in many concerts and sometimes contribute to the Canadian music blog North By East West (http://nxew.ca/). I also volunteer for an organization called Safe Amplification Site Society (http://safeamp.org/) in Vancouver dedicated to creating and managing an all-ages music venue/arts space.
I am currently preparing to participate in a Youth Challenge International - Ghana project. My fellow volunteers and I will be involved in community-based projects in Ghana where we will have the opportunity to live and work with local community members. I am certain I will learn much from this experience and will be better equipped to take on a career in Education or Public Health.
