Prior to arriving at NetAid, I worked as an educator in a variety of contexts around the world. In addition to working as a high school history teacher at the Head-Royce School in Oakland, California, I served as the founder and director of a library development project in Nicaragua, and as a teacher and mentor at Ibeji, a home for street children, in Salvador, Brazil. As part of my Master's research in International and Comparative Education, I was able to develop a program model to help minority high school students in the US take advantage of international exchange programs. I then had the opportunity to test the model by setting up a program to immerse high school students from East Palo Alto, California in rural villages in Nicaragua. When I'm not working, I love to travel and explore the outdoors. My previous job allowed me to combine these two interests by leading biking and hiking trips for Backroads, a Berkeley-based active travel company, in both the Pacific Northwest and Italy. Among my other passions are my love of yoga, languages, swimming and discovering exotic fruits.
