i am studying fourth year philosophy and anthropology in glasgow university, i live in a six person flat, all my flat mates are from europe and although i mostly grew up in scotland i would not consider myself scottish, i would like to say when people ask me where i am from 'i have come from this world' but few will understand or accept this. i want to change this, i see so many people fighting to be allowed to call a place thier home when it should not have to be fought over. I am studying identity at the moment as one of my courses, looking at how a person views themselves, what they call themselves and say about who they are, and how where they are shapes this. I want to speak to people who want to see beyond borders and race and beleifs, i want to understand what it is for someone now to be who they are, whatever that is. I want to find out what it is for me to be who i am, and i want to encourage this curiosity, if only to better understanding and empathy.
