Over Mij |
From 1987 to 1999 I worked with the National Museums of Kenya as an archaeologist, first in the coastal town of Mombasa, and later at its headquarters in Nairobi.
In August 2000 I was appointed Director of AFRICOM. AFRICOM, the International Council of African Museums, is a pan-African NGO. Established in 2000 and based in Nairobi, Kenya, AFRICOM is the umbrella body for museums and museum professionals on the continent, serving to facilitate exchange and the sharing experiences beyond geographic and linguistic borders (our working languages are French and English).
I am passionate about heritage management, culture and sustainable development, and NICTS: web design and the use of the Internet and multimedia in the culture and heritage sectors. I have been involved in several 'Museums and the Web' conferences, and have served as a Judge for MW's 'Best of the Web' competition. I represent East Africa in the 'follow-up committee' established at the WSIS Consultation with African non-governmental organizations in Bamako, Mali (2002).
