About Me

Youth volunteers of development and environmental care organization (YOVENCO was founded on 10th march 2001. YOVENCO is non-governmental, non-profit making and non-political organization with headquarters in Berbera, a sea port city in the Sahil region. Berbera has an estimated population of 60,000.

YOVENCO has been working as a voluntary with its community in the social development, health improvement, youth empowerment as well as the conservation of the environment. YOVENCO is a legally registered NGO by the Sahil Attorney General and the Ministry of National Planning and Coordination.

For the past working experience, YOVENCO has a strong collaboration with the local authorities, community, LNGOs and INGOs operating in Sahil. Additionally, YOVENCO is a registered member of the two networks namely; Somaliland National Youth Organization (SONYO) an Umbrella youth network and Somaliland Pastoral and Agro-pastoral Forum (SOLPAF). As part of her strategic objectives, YOVENCO has been involved in several activities including but not limited to:-

 Berbera beach cleaning campaign, which mainly focused on the collection of plastic bags that littered the beach. This project was funded by Berbera Municipality and contributions from YOVENCO members.
 Plastic bags risk reduction programs funded by WFP and MBA.
 Education for all (EFA) campaign funded by UNESCO through SONYO Umbrella
 As part of the national campaign, YOVENCO has been supporting the campaign against HIV/AIDS; mainly focusing on prevention measures through community mobilization, sensitization on the dangers of the epidemic

We have enjoyed good working relationship with the community, local authorities, and other development agencies including UN agencies such as UNICEF and UNESCO to mention but a few.

YOVENCO (youth volunteers of Development & environmental care organization) consists young men and women of diverse background, who come together to actively participate in developing their community. It was founded in 10th march 2001. The organization has been working voluntarily with its community in the preservation & the conservation of the environment in Sahil region.
Yovenco now is able to operate in everywhere in the region.

Like any other environment and Health preferring, NGO, Yovenco is established to work towards alleviating the Environmental & health problems in the region and the country at large while at the same time keeping the city clean. Since its initiation YOVENCO has been working hard, to advocate for the conservation and preservation of both fauna and the flora in the region that is under extreme threat.
YOVENCO’s members come together to enhance the environment & health within which animals and plants live and that of a people who depend upon them for their survival. The service we render mainly covers environmental and health problems that need an intervention.
