About Me

I am an undergraduate student at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, pursuing a BSc. Psychology and Communication Studies degree (double major).

I'm very much interested in HIV/AIDS awareness and LGBT consciousness raising. In fact, some colleagues and I are in the process of starting an NGO aimed at:
(1) Suicide Prevention (and counselling)
(2) LGBT consciousness raising (general public; destigmatization)
(3) HIV/AIDS awareness and education amongst Secondary School students.

Our Foundation seeks to address the issues in Youth that may have driven youth to suicide, in order to prevent that same fate re-occuring.

I'm also very interested, and love discussing Gender relations and issues. It irks me when people mistake Gender and Sex for the same thing.
Sex refers to the biological make up of an individual (male, female, transsexual, other).
Gender refers to the social constructs based on notions of masculinity and femininity that can influence peoples perceptions of men and women.

I love to volunteer and get involved in different causes, though I always need to do extensive research before I decide to take up a cause. As long as I believe in a cause, I will fight for it till the very end. My resilience and determination are my blessings and a curse, since I never seem to ever finish working. I love it though; living a week in a day.
