About Me

Ahmad Wais Wardak, was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and currently a Ph.D. student of Political Science at the University of Connecticut. As a Fulbright scholar, Wais earned his Master's degree in International Studies in 2007.

Prior to this, due to the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan, Wais spent most of his childhood in Pakistan along with millions of other Afghans. He first started his career from engaging with a landmine clearing organization working as the information officer. Later, after the fall of the Taliban regime in late 2001, Wais returned to Afghanistan and joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and started working as the Programme Assistant. He was later promoted to Programme Officer for Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and advocate for disabled Afghans. Ahmad Wais is also co-founder a well-known bimonthly magazine, the Gorbat. This independent Afghan publication aimed at fostering political stability, democratic values, and instilling the values of social and political inclusion through articles and other conferences and published materials. Since 2004, Wais is resided in the United States and completing his doctoral degree in Political Science--International Relations and Comparative Politics.
