About me
Wandila Simon Kamukwape is the Co-Founder and Programmes Coordinator of Youth Skills for Development (YS4D), a youth led not for profit organization with its Secretariat in Kitwe City, Zambia and the Administrator of the Zambia Virtual School, a national division for the World Virtual School. A Zambian Youth born in October****, Kitwe City and brought up in the *****and Copperbelt provinces of Zambia, Africa. Though with low, to medium education, he pursued Information Technology at Copperstone University, Zambia **** and ****, and currently studying Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and Paralegal through the World Virtual School.
Since **** Mr Wandila has been working with local institutions in the Information Technology Sector, and has majored in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) Skills Training, and among others worked as Technician for a Local Company, Partnered with a local Business Foundation and Consultancy Company in ICTs Consultancy and Onsite ICT skills Training to local schools, corporate and individual clients, Computer Literacy Program Instructor / Coordinator with a local community school, Action Partner and Volunteer Staff/ Instructor with *****Project Zambia in a Community Capacity Building Project, a project aimed at supplementing the government’s efforts in achieving the Education For All (EFA) goals , later engaged as the Education Programme Officer for the same organization. He has also been working with YS4D to improve the livelihoods of the youth and other underprivileged through promoting and providing Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training and artisan support and other development initiatives. He has compiled and produced ICT Skills training guides and workbooks.
Besides, Mr Wandila is a human rights educator, Peer Educator in HIV/AIDS and life skills, Psychosocial Support Counselor for Abortion minded and post abortion victims. A blogger with knowledge sharing and exchange in a variety of subjects including Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D), Youth unemployment, poverty, human rights, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training and artisan support. A dedicated and experienced youth leader, with more than 3 years in leadership. A self motivated, team builder and player, with community mobilization and advocacy as well as problem solving skills, and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) enthusiast, with vast experience in ICT4D ,and youth and community development projects management.
Mr Wandila is a member of several networks including Zambia Telecentre Network (ZTN) of which he is a member of the Steering Committee, World Virtual School (WVS), for which he is the Zambian Country Coordinator, Global Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), Global Youth Action Network (GYAN),TakingITGlobal, telecentre.org, UNESCO-UNEVOC E-forum, the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network ,e.t.c. He is Actively involved in needs surveys in social services provision, social and economic development, HIV and AIDS issues, education, and ICT4D and have since participated in research review and establishment of development initiatives, locally and globally. Currently, he has dedicated his efforts towards building strong, networks and opportunities to catalyze the availability of education and, vocational and entrepreneurship training as well artisan support initiatives available to the poor youths and other underprivileged citizens, with an emphasis on the use of ICT4D tools, and Youth Leadership for effective and efficient youth response to poverty and other threats to balanced and sustainable and lasting social change.
