Prof. Oumar Ndongo is a Senegalese, born in 1952 and is married, with six children. He holds a Doctorate in American Studies from the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. Before joining WACSOF, he was a Professor of American Studies in the same University. Prof. Ndongo was also the Director of SYTOSENEGAL, an international organization working in the area of empowering youths through travels and community work. He was also the Executive Director of PANFSTRAG SENEGAL, as well as the Chairman of the Senegal Section of the Federation of Universal Peace. From 2003- 2006, he was the Director of Mano River UN Peace Forum. He has also been a senior Fulbright Scholar and Peace Ambassador for the Inter religious and International Federation for World Peace. Prof Ndongo therefore comes to WACSOF with a vast wealth of experience in research, project management, strategic planning, peace building, corporate governance, monitoring and evaluation systems, empowerment of minorities, regional integration, as well as result-based management. He has since the inception of WACSOF worked with the organization as a resource person at various fora and head of delegation of some of WACSOF’s election observation missions, the most recent being the EOM in Sierra Leone. his grounded knowledge of WACSOF in particular and civil society networking at large prove him competent in moving our organization ahead. Being perfectly multilingual in French, English, Pulaar and Wolof, and having a working knowledge of Spanish, Prof. Ndongo’s extensive linguistic skills will doubtlessly prove invaluable in his new position.
