Over Mij

I am a Cameroonian by nationality aged 28; started getting interested in HIV/AIDS issues since my secondary school life some 11 years back. I started off as an HIV/AIDS club member in 1999, two years later, was selected and trained as Peer Educator. In this capacity, I animated communication and mobilisation of peers for HIV/AIDS activities. Later on I gained basic training as Counsellor. This and other refresher courses including other impromptu tasks with other organisations constituted my HIV/AIDS activities during my secondary school life .

Shortly after leaving school, I got enrolled as a Youth Volunteer in the Cameroon National Association for Family Welfare (CAMNAFAW) Yaounde. CAMNAFAW is a Reproductive Health National NGO of Volunteers and a Member Association of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). During this period, my activities as volunteer did not quite differ from those in school but this time, they were much more intensive as I started learning about other RH issues. Testimonies, animation of communication activities, counselling during VCT, later as mentor to younger Peer Educators and finally I picked up a job as Youth Programmes Secretary.
I got involved in implementing youth projects with young people. All these have motivated me to continue working on HIV and AIDS related issues. All these gave me the opportunity to hold the post of a Programme Assistant for Youth Programmes in CAMNAFAW which I presently hold.
