About Me

My name is Tricia Smith and I recently started working with the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE). One of the areas I am focusing on at CATIE is the Positive Youth Project which developed out of an action based research project. This research took place from 2002-2004 and explored young people living with HIV/AIDS (yPHA's) need for youth-specific, interactive, HIV/AIDS treatment information and resources. The project is now in the form of an amazing website for positive youth and can be found at www.livepositive.ca
I am living in Toronto but have spent almost three years working with community HIV/AIDS organizations in Africa, namely Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. A great deal of my work has been in the area of community based research with youth affected by HIV/AIDS, resource development for child headed households, training for organizations who work with orphans and vulnerable children and children affected by HIV/AIDS, and Train the Trainer HIV/AIDS education projects. While working in Zimbabwe I consulted for the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative and while in Ethiopia worked as the Ethiopian Program Director for Youth Challenge International.
