cultures and landscapes in their hitchhiking journey through Arabic and sub-Sahara African countries. The couples will immerse in the daily lives and experiences of the people they meet throughout Africa by sharing a ride over the savanna and through the jungle, sleeping at people’s homes in big cities and tribal communities, and working together to build towards a sustainable future. During their travels, the hitchhikers will make visible the efforts and challenges of African people in reaching a just world as envisioned by the Earth Charteri. Central themes in this are safeguarding and promoting (1) ecological integrity, (2) social and economic justice, and (3) democracy, nonviolence and peace. By facilitating dialogue with and among the individuals and groups that cross the hitchhikers’ path, the knowledge and inspiration of youth and elders in different cultures can be connected and can strengthen each other to create a more just world.
