About Me |
Over the past ten years Thabo has worked with the local association for young people in his area (“Treatment Action Campaign”) as a youth leader and an activist. Treatment Action Campaign is a South African NGO working in health promotion, HIV/AIDS prevention and care (lobbying and advocacy for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment). Before he joins the Treatment Action Campaign, Thabo was working as a Radio Presenter at Alex FM Radio where he was doing a weekend breakfast show aimed at young people and social issues affecting. From that time he developed an interest to become an HIV/AIDS active agent, therefore he then do freelancing for loveLife, which is a youth organisation aimed at working in health promotion, HIV/AIDS prevention programmes. Then is where he joined the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) as a youth leader in one of the South African Province, Gauteng. After joining the TAC, he has represented them in various media, debating around the HIV and AIDS issues. He has been on the same radio he worked for, for interviews and even South African TV show called Felicia Show at E-TV. Thabo began collaborating with faith-based organisations on a voluntary basis participating in projects to raise awareness around HIV/AIDS, including training sessions in schools and the local community. From February 2004 to September 2004, Thabo worked as National Coordinator and Head of the National Secretary’s office at the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA).
From September 2005 up to date, Thabo joined the International AIDS Society in Geneva working as the Conference Programme Officer and Skills Building Coordinator for the AIDS2006 Conference in Toronto. Thabo has been the Temporary AIDS Co-chair for the Lutheran Church in South Africa Soweto Committee from 2003 to end 2004 2001 to 2002 he was the human rights activist and researcher with the Human Rights Commission of South Africa. He currently part of the Lutheran Theologian Team, which is aiming and working to develop (comes up with) an HIV/AIDS manual for the Lutheran World Federation; and also leading the IAS Youth team in Geneva.
Thabo’s vision is simply too “Create self-sufficient communities and individual man/women with a social conscious to serve and care (support each other) for the nation".
