Elisabet currently studies International Relations in the Universidad Catolica Santo Domingo with aims of focusing on economic policy and sustainable development. She is the Country Coordinator of Global Youth Partners (GYP) in the Dominican Republic, a volunteer youth-managed Advocacy Initiative for increased access to HIV information, education and services among young people, supported by UNFPA as a global network of youth working at grassroots level. GYP implemented an Advocacy campaign for increased funding to HIV prevention among young people at the local level. The Initiative supported Advocacy strategies such as lobbying, negotiation, strategic planning, capacity-building, and networking. During UNFPA supported project, she coordinated a country team which advocated for local government budget allocation towards HIV prevention activities for young people; municipal youth forums for the elaboration of local youth policies, with an HIV prevention component; round tables with local governments; and municipal youth consultations on HIV/AIDS. She participated as country delegate and panel session exposer in the World Youth Festival, World Youth Congress, and as Youth Representative in the Dominican Republic Delegation to the UNGASS round table on June 2005; as well as one of the UNGASS Review Youth Report authors, for GYP Dominican Republic, and speaker in the Young People's Breakfast sponsored by UNFPA in the event. Elisabet is now member of the Leadership Programme Committee of the International AIDS Conference Mexico 2008. Elisabet has worked in UNFPA and WFP as programme assistant, is member of the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA) and is also part of the Steering Committee of the National Youth Alliance against HIV/AIDS, supported by the Presidential Commission on AIDS. She has also participated as Youth Representative in the Dominican Republic Civil Society revision of the Country Report to UNGASS + 5. She is also co-founder of a students association that promtoes the improtance of International Relations for the Sominican republic and its development. Elisabet's work, through GYP, currently focuses on use of ICT (for Advocacy, education and information) through the elaboration of a WEB portal and replication of previous GYP activities in other municipalities and follow-up in former ones. She also advises and participates in the process for revision and formulation of the National Youth Public Policy that is beginning in the Dominican Republic.
