Born and raised in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago...and very proud of it! Educated at Holy Name Convent (yes, a convent!) and the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and attained a BA in Mass Communication, with specialty in Radio Presentation and Production.
I've worked in the media as a television reporter, radio reporter, announcer and talk show host. But I've spent much of my working life doing Communications and other work in the NGO sector. The areas I concentrate on are gender, youth and most recently, volunteerism and the environment.
I spent a year and a half stint as a National UN Volunteer, coordinating IYV 2001 events in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region. I made the transition to Programme Assistant at the Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development (CNIRD), the organisation that supported me as a UNV.
I then moved into the private sector, where I became Web Administrator for Ernst & Young Caribbean. Very, very challenging working in the corporate world!! But I moved again to the public sector in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs as their Communications Specialist. Although I won't be working directly on youth programmes, I will be and have been so far, involved in organising and documenting youth projects within the Ministry, primarily the National Youth Policy launch and implementation. Back to my roots, kinda!
Otherwise I love to travel (miss that about NGO work), read non-fiction, watch and listen to engaging films and music, and animals. My cat Missy definitely keeps me grounded...believe that!
