I have been active in service to my country at a very early age, by volunteering with the Guyana Red Cross Society, Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA), Volunteer Youth Corps, the Drop-In Centre for homeless children, Geriatric and Pediatric institution. As a trained counsellor I helped manage the Hotline at GRPA for the popular “Words Have Power” campaign, and provided educational programmes and other HIV/AIDS intervention with youth within various communities in Guyana, I have worke closely with persons who are infected and affected by HIV, helping them to empower and enhance their lives. I have received such accolades as Outstanding Volunteer of Guyana, Most Efficient and Committed Volunteer of the Volunteer Youth Corps. Just recently (2006) I participated in MTV Staying Alive 48fest film competition in Toronto Canada, where I played the leading role in the winning film "Fear and Loathing" I was also awarded Hero of the Month by MTV (2006) Presently I am working as the Workplace Coordinator for Volunteer Youth Corps.
