I personally tought that my choice was made a long time ago, since grade 3 I wanted to become like my dad (for most of the guys the paternal figure is really important for their life and they often, if the dad is successful, what to follow their dad’s footsteps like me). My dad’s a stock broker and he’s a source of inspiration for me, he managed his way incredibly well out of misery and he now lives a very happy and wealthy life. I was fascinated by his job, his schedule and how easily he could mix work, fun and sports. All the reasons above made me want to follow his footsteps. Still, when I had to chose which program I wanted to follow in cegep, I chose pure and applied science just to make sure I could change my mind and do whatever I wanted if so (also to make my mom proud :P). This choice may be the best I did as far as I’m concerned because I actually changed my mind and I’m tempted to become a doctor. But because I was so sure I wanted to do like my dad I did not work hard in cegep so now I do not have the grades required to be accepted in medicine at university. The fact I want to bring here his that we should always give our best no matter what. A lot of people kept telling me to do so but I answered them with conviction : ‘’ Why give my best and lose some time of my life if I have the grades I need to study in what I want to while giving not even half of what I could?’’ Maybe I should have listened to them because now I’ll maybe have to lose some years of study in whichever program I’ll need to be accepted in medicine. Finally, we should always give our best no matter which reasons we have not to do so and if you give your best, be sure that you will be rewarded!
