About Me

Beatrice is a 25 year old human rights activist and the current National Focal Point for Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe. She is part of the Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Services (SAfAIDS) Young Women Leadership Program currently attached to Zimbabwe Women Resource Centre and Network (ZWRCN). She has been active in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for youth for 6 years focusing on advocacy, information generation and sharing, facilitation and young women’s movement building.
Prior to joining ZWRCN, Beatrice worked as the Information and Advocacy Officer for Students and Youth Working on Reproductive Health Action Team (SAYWHAT) and led a successful campaign on sanitary wear (Deliver. Delayed Dignity) which successfully lobbied the government to eliminate duty taxes on sanitary wear materials in July 2012. She has organized networking meetings with parliamentarians in relation to youth SRHR. Beatrice was involved in the coordination and planning for the Test and Treat Campaign, Know your Status Campaign, STI campaign and Right to Respect campaign targeting young people from rural, peri-urban and urban communities as well as students in tertiary institutions. She has worked as a News Reporter for The Herald, a national newspaper in Zimbabwe.
Beatrice is passionate about helping organizations integrate blogging, email marketing, social networking, and social media into SRHR programming for young people. She has participated in several capacity building trainings on leadership, sexuality, gender, rights, ICT’s, resource mobilization, youth adult partnerships, basic HIV counseling and treatment. Beatrice’s greatest strengths are her passion for young people’s SRHR, creativity, drive and leadership.
