As GBC’s Technical Services Coordinator, Sancia provides programmatic assistance to member companies, co-manages the Awards for Business Excellence process and facilitates corporate engagement in HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria through technical initiatives and events. Born and raised in Jamaica, Sancia holds a B.A in International Relations and French from Wesleyan College. At Wesleyan, Sancia developed her passion for photography where she used this medium to highlight social issues, one of which was documenting the lives of persons living with HIV/AIDS in the community. This project impacted her tremendously that she led her business fraternity’s outreach to local HIV/AIDS clinics and assisted with organizing World AIDS Day events on her campus. Prior to joining GBC, Sancia volunteered as a youth advisor on several political campaigns in Jamaica, taught ESL to Latin American immigrants in Macon, Georgia, and was an AFS Youth Ambassador in Switzerland. An avid swimmer, Sancia hopes one day to publish her work as a photographer. “My dream, really, is to use this medium and my passion for helping others to effect change. I never allow anyone to tell me something is impossible, because I believe I have the power to change the world, in my own way.”
