Society for Promotion of Education and Development (SPED) is a brainchild of a dynamic and motivational visionary who believes that strengthening participation of the public and private sectors to issues of education and development will trigger actions for more policy reforms and desirable institutional changes.
As a developing nation in a globalizes world, struggling to eradicate corruption, youth restiveness, political instability, extreme poverty and hunger, illiteracy, unemployment, gender discrimination, inadequate health care services and facilities, HIV/AIDS and other diseases, problem of environmental sustainability among others which are among some of the MDGs adopted by the United Nation, reflect a strong commitment on the part of the world leaders to reducing global poverty. The founder of SPED believes that progress made on any of the above ills will systematically impact others due to the direct relationship existing between them. He believes that education constitute the major instrument and only weapon for sustainable economic and human development as well as the fulcrum around which every other activities revolve. He also believes that any great feat achieved by any great nation of the world, heavily relied on the instrumentality of education and posits that no society can rise beyond its educational level. Therefore progress made on education development will automatically have a direct positive impact to others e.g. economy.
It is unacceptable fact for us to simply throw our hand in the air merely to pronounce our helplessness due to inadequate funding. Under the current state of things, there’s every need for the full participation of individuals, private and public sectors, corporate and all the development partners to the development of education in whatever capacity. The encouragement and recognition through partnership to every single contribution to education and development will help forge a stronger alliances and fresh partnerships.
The founder and initiators of SPED were aroused by the desire to bring global change in the society through education development with a stronger participatory network.
Therefore SPED in constellation with other organizations will serve as a vehicle to promoting public private partnership participation to education and development.
