I'm a senior at the University of Oregon, studying journalism and international studies. I'm interested in community development and how it relates to quality of life. I have lots of questions, and my answers to them change every day as I learn new information that complicates what I thought yesterday. For example, what does "cultural competency" actually mean in practice? How do we engage in thoughtful and respectful conversations with people who have different values and goals so that all parties leave feeling satisfied?
