I hold a BA in Arts Management and Theatre from the University of Toronto and am currently pursuing my MSc in Health, Community and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am interested in a wide array of social justice issues, including (but not limited to!): environmental justice; urban agriculture and food security; first nations rights; gender issues and rural development. My research interest lies in the intersection of the arts and social justice. I will be focusing my Masters thesis on the role community arts can play in engaging communities in bottom-up participatory projects, and the positive outcomes this work can bring about for Canada's underserved communities. My long-term goal is for this research to affect government policy and funding decisions concerning the arts, community and economic development in these areas. I have seven years of professional and volunteer experience working in Toronto's thriving not-for-profit and arts sectors. Most recently I held the position of Manager of Marketing and Community Outreach for LEAF (www.yourleaf.org). I have also worked or volunteered with such inspiring organizations as Outside Looking In (www.olishow.net), Schools Without Borders (www.swb.ca), Youth Action Network (youthactionnetwork.org) and Children's Peace Theatre. My favourite place in the world is the outpost camp I co-manage with my partner (northernskiesoutpost.wordpress.com)
