About Me |
Lansana Mansaray is the fifth of ten children in his family. He attended the West African Methodist Episcopal primary school and the Rokel secondary school, where he obtained his O level certificate, and the Albert Academy, where he completed his sixth form. He qualified for admission to Fourahbay College to study law but later left, due to a lack of financial support. Lansana joined youth activists who called on government and policy makers to mitigate the plight of vulnerable and marginalized youth. It was during one of his encounters with the President that he came to know Dr. Dennis Bright, Minister of Youth and Sports. He was determined to be a youth leader and help young people who have potential but lack support. The experience that most impacted Lansana was his participation in the First Pan-African Youth Leadership Summit in Senegal. There, he met Ms. Olubanke King-Akerele of the Joint UNDP- UNESCO Project Foundation for Africa's Future Leadership, who invited him to attend leadership training at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Lansana eventually was sent to Fourah Bay College to pursue a 12-week internship in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies. Following his internship, he was sent to the Mano River Peace Forum to work with Director Oumar Ndongo. Lansana credits him and Ms. King-Akerele with being profound influences on his life.
