Photographer + Educator + Visual Sociologist

With roots deeply embedded in the soils of South Carolina, David Herman, has branches that extend far beyond the historic Georgetown. He attended Florida A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Print Management.

Currently, David serves as Co-founder/Creative Director of Preservation LINK, Inc., an education agency that works to educate youth through media arts and technology. “I spend a large portion of my time using my gifts and passion as a photographer to develop curriculum that will help children understand the importance of “learning”. The camera is a powerful tool that gives a person the ability to express thoughts and feelings of the immediate world around them.

“Preservation LINK’s photojournalism program, Through the Eyes of Our Children, is one of our in school based programs designed to give students a hands-on opportunity to explore and strengthen their voice”, says David.

David extends artistic and cultural exploration through his traveling photography and educational exhibit entitled: ETCHED IN THE EYES...The Spirit of a People Called Gullah Geechee. This is an ongoing project designed to document the African Diaspora along the eastern coastline of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

David earned a Masters of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas during the fall of 2008 and works to advance the field of Visual Literacy. When asked what inspires him, David replied, "I am inspired by possibilities."
