About Me |
A typical Hong Kong student would seem to be the suitable comment about myself at first glance. But only to differ inside the mind where pure critical questioning has lead myself into an experience and a pathway which is unique among my peers.
To be exceptional is a kind of agony. Why can't I be just another typical Hong Kong youngster around the street? To commit myself to pop star chasing, spend the rest of my teen years in movies and karaokes. Or do what the adults tell you to, accept the teachers saying, don't think why you have to have your CE, A-levels, just study, study , study! Accept that all those exams are only for your good, that you will get a good career if you do well. But why, for 4 to 5 years, do I have to commit myself in recite, exam methods, and knowledge swallowing just to get a good university place? What about all those critical thinking, social awareness and a character sculpturing that we desparate need? Sorry, that's OUT OF SYLLABUS, so you don't have to deal with that!
If you ask me whether I would like it to choose again and just stick to the rules of a system.(that so reminds me of "Brave New World") I won't. I'm happy that at least I have my dreams and ambition. There are ppl out there who I can help and I'm not going to let go of that.
