Over Mij |
I was born in Dajabon, a small city located in the frontier of Dominican Republic and Haiti. I come from a family of Japanese Immigrants who came to the DR after the Second World War.
Being a Japanese descendant in a Latin American country is an honor, and at the same time, a big challenge. The big issue is to be able to understand the differences of both cultures and let others know that fact as well.
Right now, I'm working as a language teacher (English, French and Japanese) while I'm doing my major in Foreign Affairs. My objective is to represent my country overseas, specially in Japan, and help both countries to become more conscious about cultural diversity and its importance for our world.
Also, I have a strong commitment with my local community -Dajabon, to promote its development. I volunteer teaching Math & English to poor kids of my neighborhood, since I believe that education is the key to change our socio-economical situation.
As a member of Nikkei Youth International, I've had the opportunity to meet other Japanese descendants of this continent and execute projects to foment the development of our countries having the sponsorship of Japanese enterprises and non profit organizations.
