About Me |
Natasha Latiff, 21 is a 3rd year law student at the University of Warwick, UK. She made her first travel alone to Afghanistan at the age of 17 years and has been there 4 times since, working in the area of women’s rights and legal reform and Afghan children’s education. She aspires to be a legal academic in Gender in Islamic Law and the Development of Legal systems in Post-Conflict Countries. Eventually she intends to work as a gender specialist in Afghanistan. In 2007, she founded a Women’s Rights in Islamic law initiative called Femin Ijtihad (translated as critical thinking of gender in Islamic law) which seeks to raise awareness of women’s rights and promote gender solidarity in Afghanistan. FI has branches in Warwick U.K., New York and Singapore. Apart from her work, Natasha is a traditional and lyrical dancer and enjoys reading, travelling and casual film-making.
