 About Me |
I am passionate about educating youth to become productive, innovative and self-aware citizens of their world. I have so far accomplished through teaching K-12, as well as a school Principal and educational leader in my community. This summer I completed City University's Executive Leadership academy and am working toward K-12 Superintendent credentials.
Currently I am the Dean of Academic Affairs at ITT Technical Institute in Everett, Washington. One of my favorite educational challenges was as the Information Literacy and Technology Specialist for an urban elementary school that had an 80% free-and-reduced-lunch population, as well as 60% immigrant/bi-lingual/non-english speaking population. It would happen that 2 years into my position there "911" happened - the majority of our immigrant families at the time were from Iraq, so you can imagine the challenges. However, I learned resiliancy from these families and unyielding respect for what they had gone through to get to the US and what they would go through after "911".
I look forward to continuing my empassioned trek through the educational mine-field, yet wil persevere and "pick up cans along the way"!
