 About Me |
Marilyn is a second year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) student. She is also the Founder and VP Innovation of the Chapter Eleven Book Club, http://groups.takingitglobal.org/ChapterEleven, an executive member of her university's rotary club and the editor of her law faculty's Alternative Faculty Handbook.
Marilyn has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Marilyn received the Schulich School of Business' Undergraduate Business Council's Initiative award for her creativity, drive, leadership and communication abilities. Also, an essay she wrote, entitled "Before the Media Circus: US Presidential Campaigns from 1896 Onward," was nominated for the best essay in the History Department of York University. As well, Marilyn received a $2,000 entrance scholarship when she commenced her studies at York. During her time as a business administration major, Marilyn was also the Executive Director of a successful online magazine, On The Wall. Featured in the Toronto star and the North York Mirror, On The Wall ran articles about social issues, in addition to providing work experience to post secondary students.
The Toronto Metro, the Toronto Star and the York Region Liberal are among the newspapers Marilyn has freelanced for. She has also been interviewed by Global News, Rogers Cable, OMNI TV and CBC Radio 3. Further, Marilyn worked as a Research Assistant in the Organizational Behaviour Department at the Schulich School of Business for one year. Among her past endeavours are participating in a Mock United Nations, a Mock Legislature at Queen's Park and volunteering at the Reena Foundation, a centre for the developmentally disabled.
