About me
Hey there, My Names Lesley. I originally come from a town called Bendigo in Australia. I'm currently a first year student at the University of Melbourne studying Science.
I'm currently the Careers and National Liason Officer for Melbourne's YSA (The Young Scientists of Australia) Chapter. YSA is an organisation of young people dedicated to the promotion and awareness of science to Young people in Australia. We help organisations promote science to Young people with Camps and events. One of our main events is TSSE (The Siemen Science Experience) which is a combined effort from Universities around Australia, Rotary and the main Sponser Siemens to give Year 10 students a chance to explore a wide range of fields of science that they may not be able to see in there classrooms.
In 1998 as a child that participated in the event I found it eye opening and so intriguing that you find me now doing a science degree. I have also attended NYSF (The National Youth Science Forum) in Australia. Which is a 2 week camp dedicated to broadening newly entering year 12 students preceptions of science, enlightening and breaking down the stereotype of scientists.
Whilst I have a passion for science, I feel strongly for the preservation the Australian environment and the rest of the planet. I have always looked for equality amongst all people and justice.
