About Me |
My name is Maria Masiar and I was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. My family escaped the Communist regime in 1987 and I have lived my adult life in Canada. I attended the University of Toronto studying Management and Economics and was a teaching assistant for 3 course. During my academic studies my brother and I started our own internet solutions company, Aoulous Inc.,which has now grown to employee 10 full time staff and various contract employees. We have created projects for G.E, Samsung Canada, Volvo, Sprint, Royal Bank, Siebel, USAA, Franklin and Templeton and many others. We have 4 international awards for design and continue to aspire to lead internet technologies.
I am currently working as a consultant with UNESCO in the division of Human Rights, Peace and Tolerance to help update the human rights website, resume efforts for the internet forum for the UNESCO chairs and various other I.T/HR tasks. I am very excited at this opportunity and believe that bridging the communication/technology gap as well as involving youth in world matters is an importnat priority.
In my personal life I am very outgoing and very active. I have my ski instructors license, master scuba divers license, I do professional latin dancing, rock and ice climb and rollerblade. I speak Slovak, French and English.
