About Me

My name is Magdalena Kurpierz, born in Opole (Poland). Aged eight I migrated with my family, which is my parents and my three sisters, to Heidelberg (Germany).

I studied Management & Economic at Mercator School of Management (University of Duisburg-Essen) in Germany and spend spring semester 2006 in Hong Kong as an MBA student. I completed my studies successfully with a Master´s degree in Management & Economics (Diplom Oeconom) in 2010. Now I am working as a Project Quality Manager in Basel (Switzerland).

In order to my profession I do a lot of different extra activities. I enjoy being active with my son, reading, I love books e.g. from Paulo Coelho, Erich Fromm, Ptrick Süskind and Milan Kundera. I was a German volunteer for the FIFA World Cup in Cologne, a "German Language Conversation" Volunteer in Hong Kong, a Orientation Week Volunteer for Freshman Students in Duisburg (Germany) and so on.

Meeting different people is an important part of my life. I am able to mix well with a large variety of people. I enjoy communicating, philosophising and to debate with others about different issues. I love travelling, living in different countries for as long as I can remember and discovering different countries and cultures. Overall I am an optimist but somehow critical thinker as well. I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic person and able to drag my fellow men along. I also have a flexible and hardworking nature. I am always trying my best. I can negotiate my way through different situations with pleasure because I like new challenges and I need changes in my life.

The reason why I am registered at tigweb is WIN (Women in School ltd (NGO) in Ghana / Verein Women in School in Switzerland)

I see WIN as a chance for me to bring different interests of me together, e.g. meeting and talking to people from different places, traveling and making other people smile. Our WIN Project means a lot to our students and we are more then happy to give our students the possibility to skill and to develope themselves. Volunteering for and with WIN means to make the big world and the distance between people smaller. I am able to explore myself, to push my limits and broaden my mind. I am proud to be a part of WIN. :)
