About Me

Lauryn grew up in a concrete-filled suburb in Toronto and so has no inspiring stories about how living in close proximity to nature moved her to take up the environmental cause. What she did grow up with, however, are two insane (or perhaps sane) environmentalists for parents who spend their time running a carbon-neutral dried fruit company out of their basement, cycling everywhere, cooking with a solar oven, and writing almost daily letters to the editor on the subject of climate change.

Having been inundated with climate change information at an early age it only seemed natural for Lauryn to enroll in the University of Toronto’s Environmental Policy and Practice Major, as well as a minor in Philosophy with a focus on ethics, and a minor in Political Science with a focus on international development. She has also worked or volunteered for a number of environmental organizations including Zerofootprint, The Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy, and Probe International.

Lauryn is particularly interested in combining climate change advocacy with international development, particularly in those parts of the world that have the least capacity to adapt to the climate crisis. Lauryn is thrilled to be part the Canadian Youth Delegation to Poznan and is so grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute at the international level.

Lauryn a grandi dans une banlieue bétonnée de Toronto, et n'a pas eu
d'inspiration de la nature pour l'emmener à se dédier à la cause
environnementale. Ce qu'elle a eu par contre, c'est deux parents
environnementalistes complètement fous (ou complètement sains d'esprit)
passant leur temps à gérer une entreprise de fruits séchés carboneutre,
cuisiner avec un four solaire, et écrire des lettres quasi-journalières aux
journaux pour parler de changements climatiques.

Avec une telle ambiance familiale, la suite va de soi. Lauryn fut admise à
l'Université de Toronto en Politiques de l'Environnement, et a travaillé ou
fait du bénévolat pour un bon nombre d'organisations environnementales, dont
Zerofoorprint, The Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy, et
Probe International.

Lauryn est particulièrement intéressée à combiner développement
international et le lobby des changements climatiques, surtout chez les
nations avec la moindre capacité d'adaptation à l'urgence du climat. Lauryn
est fière de faire partie de la Délégation, et reconnaissante de cette
occasion pour contribuer au niveau international.
