About me
My name is Kurt Reid and I am an executive member of PEYA. I am currently in the 11th grade and I attend school at Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary in Mississauga. Apart from being a member of PEYA, I am also a member of my school's Environmental Actions Group and the Malton Environmental Stewardship Project. At my school, we are currently trying to fight those litter bugs, by trying to make students recycle when possible and get more recycling bins in the school, since there is not a sufficient amount. We are also trying to revitalize our Courtyard also known as the "Peace Garden". It went through a big naturalization and clean up last year, but has been somewhat on the backburner for the past few months. At school, we participated in an energy audit, and currently have an ink cartridge and battery collection program. For next year, we plan to initiate a composting and mulching program, have an anti-idling campaign, and have a "Green Week". In addition to PEYA, I am a member of my school's Environmental Actions Group and the Malton Environmental Stewardship Project. I'm also involved in the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition, a national group dedicated to raising awareness on "climate chaos." I'm interested in pursuing a career in Environmental Resource and Management or Dramatic Arts. When it comes to environmental issues, I believe that lowering carbon emissions is the greatest priority.
