I'm Katy, a dutch student of Journalism and addicted to travelling. I love to travel and to meet and learn from other cultures and countries. Before my study I lived in Paraguay in a host family and worked with streetkids from the slums. That's where I lost my heart in Spanish language and Latinamerican culture. And over there I learned that the way you think and live is not the only or best way in the world. The world is so interesting!
Last year I lived 7 months in Valencia, Spain where I studied Journalism. My dream is to become a correspondent in Spain or Southern America in the future. In september I'll start internship with the dutch correspondent for the dutch national radio in Madrid...maybe this will help me to achieve what I want.
But first I will travel through Europe from march untill july in the project 25xEurope. With 5 other dutch youngsters I'll visit the countries of the European Union to learn more about youth life over there. What's the same and what is so different? We want to make the European Union more interesting for young people, with this project we want to show that the EU means more then laws and politics only. We hope we can make people more aware of the Union and maybe become a European instead of a Dutch person...?
At this time I'm doing internship in the regional radio of Utrecht, Radio M. I love to speak spanish and meet spanish and latinamerican people, I do capoeira (brasilian martial art) and one of my goals is to achieve my portugese as well soon...I love to dance on all kinds of music but especially latin drums and rythms make me move!
What I miss the most when I'm abroad? dutch cheese, my bike and liquorice... once a dutch girl...!
