About me
Karun has been working for the past 12 years to improve the environmental awareness and engagement of the young people in his community. He has represented the voice of youth in civic, provincial and international environmental and governance forums, suh as the climate change negotiations and other UN forums. He continues to be involved in increasing the capacity of other youth to do the same on an international level. Over the past 11 years at Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) he has developed an transportation and energy demand management consulting service reaching 250 businesses collectively reducing over 106 tonnes of GHG emissions annually. During this time he started one of the first small scale Biodiesel research pilot plant in Canada in cooperation with the University of British Columbia which has involved over 50 students in project and other youth as well as informed hundreds of interested members of the public. He has started a national Youth Environmental Network in Canada, as well as a social enterprise based on environmental and human resources consulting. Karun is currently working in Kenya launching an environmental entrepreneurship program.
