 About Me |
Hi, I'm Joost, parttime DJ, parttime social entrepreneur. I have a background in the Dutch National Students Union and local studentsorganisations and have been the first chairman of the Dutch National Youth Council. I also did some representing of the local studentsportorganisations here in Utrecht. My goal in these organisations was to arrange a maximal and structural influence of young people in local and national decisionmaking, policymaking and in the organisations which are supposed to work for them.
Besides the official representing stuff I've spent my teens en twenties working on campsites, coaching and training soccer to kids and females and enjoying lots of music and dancing. Next year (2005) I will be visiting all 25 memberstates (a week per state) of the European Union with five other young people. We want to experience life in the EU from a young persons point of view. During this trip we will try to inspire as much young people as possible to experience Europe for themselves and arrange a lot of extra information on life in the EU which will interest young people in the EU. This from the belief that a European society will only truly contribute to a better society/world/daily life in the memberstates, when people not only read about each other, but also meet, get to know each other and learn from one another. Can I get a amen? ;-) But I do believe in this.
For fun I play music to which people can dance, go out to dance myself, visit concerts, play games (Machiavelli/Kolonisten) with friends and most of the time I'm also the one who cooks dinner for them! Oh, and I do love icecream, American Comics and lots of magazines!
