À propos de moi

I was born in Nant-y-fyda near Machynlleth in mid-Wales before moving to Edinburgh where I grew up, becoming active within the Scottish Youth Parliament, Edinburgh YouthTask Force, CND and the World Development Movement. In between I attended the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School.

On September 11th 2001 I started two amazing years at the United World College of the Atlantic, living with students from around the world. I quickly became involved once more in campaigning work, helping to found a 'Global Initiatives' programme including conferences on Globalisation and Social Justice and the Environment. I co-ran the People and Planet group, and was the Welsh Regional Rep. I co-founded International Citizens for Peace in the run up to the invasion of Iraq, organising numerous actions and meetings. These included a die-in in cardiff, a candle light vigil, many coaches to the huge London demonstrations and two marches to the nearby RAF St Athans which attacted worldwide press and TV coverage. I did have a life outside of campaigning though (although some may disagree) and learnt just as much from my roommates, organising secret parties and climbing on the cliffs... oh and from my IB diploma where I focused on English, Middle Eastern History and Economics.

In September 2003 I won a Fellowship to the Royal Society of Arts as a result of their Young Leadership Awards. I am also an elected member of the Atlantic College General Council.

I am now in my final year studying International Relations at the London School of Economics, trying to continue the struggle for global justice in the big city! I have been active in People and Planet and was twice elected Environment and Ethics Officer for the Students' Union. From July 2006-07 I will be working full-time as the elected Treasurer of the Students' Union, following victory in the campus-wide elections in March 2006.
