Born in the town of Bukavu in 1968, I currently live at 20 Avenue de l'ISP, Muhungu III, Ibanda, Bukavu, South-KIvu, eastern province of DR-Congo. I graduated a college diploma in Business Management from the professional college " Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Commerciales et Financières (ISECOF/Bukavu). I have been working for a not for profit youth organization as the Executive Director since 1998. In addition to my native " Mashi ", I also speak English, French, Kiswahili, Lingala, kinyarwanda and Kirundi fluently. I am also learning Spanish and Portuguese.
I got involved into community development leadership since 1998 just one year after the first war of liberation took place in the eastern part of my country. I witnessed the first hand the way my country, especially my community were managed. And due to unprecedented poverty people in my community were facing, and consequently, the number of killed people, number of survivors of wars that have been dehumanized by rapes, sexual violence, mutilations, tortures, kidnapping, etc.; I have contemplated and decided to found an organization whose mission statement is to empower disadvantaged youth from a low-income and poorest areas (both urban and rural), specifically young women who are victims of sexual violence and rapes, displaced young people, demilitarized and war child, and HIV/AIDS orphans to reach their education and career goals by providing them a long-term programme of business training, grants as start up capital, mentoring and technical assistance during their business start up phase.
Hopefully, I agree with those who say youth can and/or help make a difference in their communities owing to qualities attributed to them such as resourcefullness, risk-taking, flexibility, zest, enthusiasm, initiative, energy, courage, willingness, etc to try new approches once trained.
I love to travel, musics, sports, and cinema. I have also warked as an international facilitator of the first consultation meeting of Youth Employment Summit (YES Burundi) Campaign in March 2005 in Bujumbura/Burundi.
